Sex Therapy & Sexual Wellbeing
Our relationship with sex can be shaped by the bodies we live in, our relationships, histories, identities, fantasies, fears, and expectations. Therapy can help you explore sexuality with more curiosity, honesty, and less shame, whether you are single, dating, partnered, monogamous, poly, non-monogamous, kinky, queer, or still figuring out what feels right for you.
Sex is more than just intercourse.
Our sexuality is a powerful force within our psyches, connected not only to the sex and intimacy, but also to our sense of self, creativity, and self-expression. You may notice that you:
- experience low or changing sexual desire
- feel anxious, disconnected, or distracted during sex
- struggle with arousal, erections, orgasm, or sexual performance
- are exploring kink and BDSM,
- notice that past trauma affects your current sexual relationships
Therapy offers a space to understand these experiences without assuming there is something wrong with you or that how you engage or not engage in sex should look a particular way..
How sex therapy can help
What We Can Work on Together:
- understanding low desire or changes in libido
- navigating desire discrepancy between partners
- reducing sexual and performance anxiety
- working with orgasm difficulties or difficulty experiencing pleasure
- exploring sexual identity, orientation, and changing desires
- working with body image and self-consciousness during sex
- understanding how trauma affects sexuality, touch, and intimacyt
What May Begin to Feel Different:
- greater comfort communicating about sex
- less shame about your desires and preferences
- more curiosity about pleasure
- less performance pressure
- more confidence expressing boundaries and saying yes or no
- feeling less governed by what sex is “supposed” to be
- more connection between sexuality, pleasure, and your sense of self

Sex therapy with Ivana Psychotherapy
Our therapists support individuals and couples navigating sexual desire, intimacy, sexual anxiety, shame, trauma, body image concerns, desire discrepancy, and questions about sexual identity or relationship structure. Our approach is relational, trauma-informed, queer-affirming, kink-aware, and sex-positive. We work collaboratively and without judgment, with attention to your relationships, emotions, body, nervous system, and unique understanding of sexuality.
For concerns such as persistent erectile difficulties, pain, or other physical changes in sexual functioning, we may also encourage consultation with an appropriate medical professional alongside psychotherapy.
Erotic self-care begins with diminishing our inner-critic and giving ourselves simply the permission to feel beautiful, to enjoy our own company, to be more compassionate and realistic with ourselves without vacillating between excess and repression.
